Insurance Times rounds up the biggest appointments, promotions and hires from this week

This week’s (24-28 June 2024) people moves got off to a busy start when Direct Line Group announced that Aviva chief risk officer Maz Brown would become its new chief risk officer, joining a recent flurry of appointments from Aviva to DLG’s management team.

Then, on the same day, Chaucer announced a continuation of its own leadership changes with the appointment of Hayley Spink to the position of group chief operating officer.

After that, news broke of a promotion at broker Academy Insurance Services, with it announced that chief financial officer Martin Tyler would step up to become chief executive.

In a MGA move, Optio appointed Axa director Deepak Soni to become its new chief executive as it looked to accelerate its growth strategy.

And in an out of this world people move story, Lockton announced the creation of a dedicated, London-based space practice via the hires of Ian George and Russell Sawyer from PIIQ, as well as consultant Mark Williamson.

On the Tuesday, the London Market Association (LMA) also strengthened its board with the appointment of Chaucer group chief executive Richard Milner, MS Amlin chief claims officer Clare Constable, Atrium chief executive John Fowle and Nephilia Syndicate chief executive Adam Beatty.
