Specialist Risk Group’s (SRG) managing general agent (MGA) MX has announced that it will soon launch a new motorsport underwriting proposition.
Called MX Motorsport, the offering will underwrite all classes of motorsport business on a global basis with A rated capacity.
Products will be distributed through a panel of specialist motorsport brokers.
More information on the new venture will be released in the run up to the official launch.
Appointment
As part of the move, Tim Skilton has been hired to lead MX Motorsport.

He joins from Allianz Commercial, where he was most recently product leader for international motorsport.
The role saw him take responsibility for product, wording and underwriting, while he also focused on providing bespoke insurance and risk management solutions to partners.
Warren Downey, group chief executive of SRG, said: “We are poised to launch MX Motorsport and Tim’s appointment demonstrates our intent to be the leading motorsport underwriting company, serving brokers who operate in this specialist sector.
“We are now building a dynamic and talented team, which will be the go-to underwriting capability for the global motorsport market.”
His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
