The appointee serves as an investment in the firm’s growth, says statement
Insurance intermediary Specialist Risk Group (SRG) has today (31 October 2022) appointed Oliver Thorne as the new managing director of its retail business Specialist Risk Insurance Solutions (SRIS).
The firm said that the appointment of Thorne served as an investment in its growth – he will lead SRIS and be responsible for its various teams that serve specialist markets.
Thorne joins from his position as regional managing director at Gallagher and previously spent over eight years in leadership roles at Stackhouse Poland, including as managing director for commercial and corporate.
He also boasts experience of integrating acquired companies, teams and individual talent, which will stand him in good stead following SRIS’ recent acquisitions of KBIS Equestrian Insurance, Insolvency Risk Services, Emrose and Hamilton Leigh, among others.
SRG is made up of various business units, including its UK specialty broking firms Miles Smith and TUE, its specialty MGA MX Underwriting and SRIS.
MX Underwriting was launched in December last year.
