’He brings extensive experience to an already strong and talented team,’ says chief executive
Specialty broker McGill and Partners has appointed Nick Williams-Walker as its new group chief operating officer.
Williams-Walker will take up the role on 23 September 2024 and succeed Stephen Cross, who has been serving in the position on a temporary basis.
Now a new appointee has been selected, Cross, one of the co-founders of McGill and Partners, will focus on his full-time role of head of strategy and innovation.
He will also continue to maintain responsibility for Europe.
Experience
Williams-Walker joins from Gallagher, where he was most recently chief operating officer at Alesco and Gallagher Specialty.

Before this, he was at JLT for almost eight years as chief operating officer at JLT Specialty.
The appointee also spent 13 years at Aon in a series of senior operationally focused leadership roles, including an extended period in India, with him overseeing the establishment of the broker’s operations in the country.

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
