The appointee is ‘looking forward’ to collaborating with brokers in delivering a ‘superior insurance product’

Specialist insurance provider Coalition has appointed Philip Cruickshank as regional development underwriter for Manchester.

Cruickshank brings over a decade of insurance industry experience to the role, having started in the market in 2013 at broker Lucas Fettes and Partners.

He then spent eight years as a regional cyber and professional indemnity underwriter at Chubb, before joining Aon as a cyber client director in 2022.

Coalition international head of underwriting Stephen Wares said the appointee was a “major hire” for the team in the north and a “well-known industry figure in the region”.

He said: “At Aon, where he was cyber client director for the north, he helped Aon’s teams and clients to better understand their exposures and the role of cyber insurance in a digital risk management strategy.

“Many brokers will have worked with him in his previous cyber underwriting role with Chubb Manchester.”

Broker collaboration

Meanwhile, Cruickshank said the appointment would give him the “opportunity” to “build” on his experience and bring active cyber insurance to Coalition’s brokers in the north.

Coalition stated its active cyber cover works to “prevent digital risk before it strikes”, by combining insurance and cyber security tools to help businesses manage and mitigate potential attacks.

“I’ve worked closely with IT directors and Cisos here to help them understand their cyber exposures and find solutions,” Cruickshank said.

“I’m looking forward to working with brokers who want to bring a superior insurance product to their clients, combined with expertise in identifying threats before they occur and managing incidents to mitigate the impacts of cyber events.”
