The new appointment will provide a ‘tremendous benefit to the business’, according to Axa XL chair
Axa XL yesterday (1 December 2022) announced the appointment of a new non-executive for two of its major entities.
Marcia Cantor-Grable has joined the boards of Axa XL Underwriting Agencies and Axa XL Insurance Company UK as an independent non-executive director.
Cantor-Grable has past experience in executive committee and board level roles as a chief executive, chief risk officer and chief compliance officer in the insurance and banking sectors in the US and UK.
She has previously held a variety of senior global and regional roles in corporate and project finance, capital markets and product development - principally at Prudential, GE Capital and BNY Mellon.
Commenting on the appointment, Claire Ighodaro, outgoing chair of the Axa XL UK boards, said: “We are delighted to welcome Marcia to the Axa XL UK boards. Her knowledge of the global financial services industry and strong governance skills will be of tremendous benefit to the business.

A ‘real opportunity’
Currently, Cantor-Grable is also a non-executive director at BNY Mellon SA/NV, Brown Shipley and Co and Modulr FS. Prior to joining the Axa XL UK boards, she was also non-executive director at Société Générale International.
She is also a former chair of the Board Risk Committee of CHAPS - a real-time gross settlement payment system used for sterling transactions in the UK - and was a lay member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) regulatory and practising certificates boards.
