The internal appointment succeeds Cécile Fresneau, who was promoted earlier this year
Insurer QBE has appointed Chris Wallace to succeed Cécile Fresneau as executive director of its UK business – a role he will perform alongside his current position as executive director for Europe.
Wallace’s extended responsibilities will be effective from 1 November 2021, subject to regulatory approval.
At this point, he will lead both the UK and Europe businesses at QBE until 31 March 2022, when he will in turn hand over the Europe role to another candidate, who is yet to be appointed.
Wallace started working for QBE back in 2008 – during his tenure, he has held a number of senior roles, including director of strategy and broker development and global lead for specialty and corporate.
Wallace’s predecessor Fresneau has been promoted to run QBE’s European operations insurance division – Wallace will report to Fresneau in his new position.
Fresneau said: “Chris was instrumental in driving change across our European portfolio and has ensured our teams across Europe are on track to deliver their ambitious growth plans.
“We have a clear opportunity to strategically expand our business in the UK and I have every confidence that Chris is the person to help make that happen.”
