The new appointee’s ‘significant experience’ will help the firm develop a new data strategy
QBE Insurance Group has appointed Christopher Bannocks to the newly created position of group chief data officer.
Bannocks joined the group on 18 May 2022. He specialises in technology services and data management, as well as proficiency in analytics, operations, sales and marketing strategy.
He has 20 years of experience in data roles within the financial services sector and has previously worked at ING Bank, Barclays and Nomura. Most recently, he was chief data and analytics officer at Danone, where he established a chief data office.
Prior to this, he was ING Bank’s first chief data officer.
Bannocks will take the lead on defining and implementing QBE’s data strategy, as well as have responsibility for the insurer’s enterprise data capabilities.
Significant experience
QBE’s group executive of technology and operations, Matt Mansour, said: “Chris’ significant experience working with companies to develop data strategies and improve data capabilities has given him a solid understanding of the importance of creating business-focused solutions that deliver value quickly, [while] demonstrating direction towards a strategic end state.
“This experience is critical to allow us to gain the most insight for our customers in managing their risk.”
Bannocks added: “There has never been a more important time for organisations to have a robust approach to enabling [their] business with data capabilities and forming a strong and aligned data strategy.”
