’It is an honour to be elected as Cila president for the coming year,’ says new president
The Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (Cila) has appointed Global Risk Solutions’ chief executive for complex claims solutions and international Adam Humphrey as its new president.
Humphrey succeeds Steven Wallace, managing director at McLarens, who has stepped down after serving his one year term.
Building on the work initiated by Wallace, Humphrey said he was committed to overseeing the long-term strategy outlined in Cila’s manifesto, which was published earlier this year (19 June 2024).
The three-to-five-year vision outlined in the manifesto aims to “future-proof” the loss adjusting profession, address evolving risks and uphold trust in the insurance claims process.
The manifesto focuses on professional excellence, technological innovation and thought leadership, with a strong commitment to inclusivity, diversity and global collaboration.
Humphrey will also be responsible for expanding Cila’s international presence and increasing its relevance to a diverse range of technical claims professionals.
He will be supported by Hugh Kennaway, executive director and global head of downstream adjusting at Matthews Daniel, who has been elected deputy president at Cila.
Humphrey, said: “It is an honour to be elected as Cila president for the coming year.
“Steven Wallace has set a high bar and I look forward to continuing the important initiatives he has put in place.
“The claims landscape is increasingly complex, requiring the involvement of various disciplines working together to resolve claims efficiently and professionally.”
Experience
Humphrey brings over two decades of claims experience to his new presidency at Cila.

He previously chaired Cila’s Construction, Energy and Engineering Special Interest Group from July 2012 to September 2023, before becoming its deputy in September 2023.
Humphrey added: “Cila is as relevant to an in-house claims’ professional, forensic accountant or technical engineer as it is to a ‘traditional’ property or casualty loss adjuster.
“Having started my own career in law, before entering loss adjusting, I’ve seen the importance of Cila’s qualifications and professional development to different experts within the claims arena.”
