The firm ’launches at a time of considerable geopolitical instability’, says managing director
A new MGA that specialises in the marine hull war risks spot breach sector has been launched.
Called Ambrey Global Specialty (AGS), the MGA offers data and insights that support insurers’ breach risk programmes.
AGS will act as a subsidiary of parent company Ambrey, which provides risk management services to the global maritime industry.
Professional services firm Davies helped facilitate the launch of the firm, with it being hosted on the Davies MGA Services platform.
The platform will provide a range of support as the MGA looks to grow.
Nick Maddalena, managing director at AGS, said: “AGS launches at a time of considerable geopolitical instability and we are delighted to partner with Davies to further assist clients in navigating the world’s most volatile areas safely.”
Other launch
This is not the first time Davies has supported Ambrey, with it helping launch Ambrey Insurance Brokers in 2020.

The firm, which operates on the Davies Broking Services platform, places spot breach risks, specifically marine hull war risks and kidnap for ransom insurance, into the open market for its shipping clients.
Emma Plush, director of MGA and broker solutions at Davies, said: “We are extremely pleased to support Ambrey’s latest venture, facilitating the launch of AGS and providing a range of services fundamental to its success.
“This further demonstrates our ability to not only help launch MGAs, brokers, syndicates and captives, but also to assist management teams as they expand their strategic footprint in the insurance space over the longer term.”
