Mazuma partners with insurance company after launching its own gadget store
Recycling company and mobile phone reseller Mazuma mobile has chosen its insurance partner for its new online handset sales platform.
Bastion Insurance will provide its gadget insurance to Mazuma customers who choose to buy.
The partnership will enable any customer with an eligible handset (whether bought from Mazuma or not) to get access to award-winning cover regardless of where they bought their original device.
Mazuma will also be offering their handset buying customers the option to add gadget insurance onto a handset purchase and drop it into their basket as part of their online journey.
The project is a two-stage process and the first stage of the open platform for any eligible user to purchase Gadget Insurance went live in early July, with the point of sale journey option to follow shortly once web-development work and testing is completed.
Commenting on the deal, Bastion’s sales director John Fannon said “As devices get more and more expensive to buy and repair or replace, it makes absolute sense to get them adequately insured.
“Let’s remember that a refurbished handset costs just as much to repair as a new one and congratulations to Mazuma for being the very first to market in their sector with a cost-effective solution to resolve this – even if you’re not one of their customers.
“To me, it clearly demonstrates Mazuma’s intent to provide additional products and services that provide genuine value to the customer and we’re delighted to be supporting the team at Mazuma in achieving their aim of being a key provider of multiple solutions for the Mobile marketplace”.
Global chief executive of EcoRenew, parent group of Mazuma, added: “Last year we introduced our Mazuma shop, where customers can buy quality and affordable devices. Today, we are delighted to also offer our customers affordable and comprehensive device insurance, through our partnership with the industry leading Bastion Insurance. It is a strong signal that here at Mazuma we want to be seen as an all-round mobile phone provider, not just a recycler”
