’I look forward to working with our energy and power practice’s deep bench of global talent,’ says appointee
Marsh has appointed Amy Barnes as its new global head of energy and power.
In her new role, Barnes will have overall responsibility for driving strategy and innovation for the firm’s global network of specialist energy and power advisors, risk engineers and brokers.
She will be based in London and report to Andrew George, president at Marsh Specialty.
Her appointment comes following that of Andrew Herring, who will take on the role of global chair of energy and power from 1 January 2026.
George said: “Barnes and Herring bring extensive experience working in the global energy and power sector and a deep understanding of the risks our clients face to these roles.
“With their leadership, we are well positioned to lead clients in navigating the transition and address today’s – and tomorrow’s – most pressing challenges and opportunities.”
Experience
Barnes joined Marsh in 2001 as an environmental consultant and has held a variety of senior international leadership positions supporting clients with a range of risk and insurance issues, particularly in relation to the energy transition and sustainability.

Barnes said: “As the global energy and power sector transitions towards greater sustainability, organisations are faced with increasingly complex regulatory, market, technology and reputational risks.
“I look forward to working with our energy and power practice’s deep bench of global talent to support clients in translating their climate transition risk mitigation efforts into business success.”
