The appointee has spent the last three years at the MIB in addition to leading the IFB

LV= General Insurance (LV=GI) has appointed Ben Fletcher as its new director of financial crime.

Fletcher joins the personal lines insurer from the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB), where he worked as chief customer officer for the last three years.

In addition to working at the MIB, the appointee has served as managing director at the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) since 2007.

In his new role, Fletcher will be responsible for leading and delivering LV=’s financial crime, criminality and fraud prevention and detection strategy, as well as the development and strengthening of existing front end and claims financial crimes controls.

Martin Milliner, general insurance claims director at LV=GI, said: “I’m thrilled to have appointed Ben for this role, to lead a function which is ever evolving and instrumental in helping to protect our customers and raise awareness of insurance fraud.

“We continue to optimise our fraud and financial crime prevention and detection capability across LV=, and Ben will play an integral part to build upon the strong team and processes we have in place today.”

‘Fight against fraud’

Fletcher added: “Insurance is there to help us all when we need it most. A big part of delivering the service our customers rightly expect from us is to ensure that we’re not all carrying the unnecessary cost of fraud and financial crime.

“As insurance is continually changing, we equally need to ensure that the fight against fraud is keeping pace with that change. I am really excited to be joining what is a fantastic team at LV=, to continue this work at a time when the industry is facing so much change.”
