The office will remain shut for 72 hours

Insurer Admiral has closed its Cardiff office after one staff member tested positive for coronavirus.

The Ty Admiral office situated in David Street, Cardiff will be closed for 72 hours from Friday last week until Tuesday 27 October – all staff have been sent home to work, according to Wales Online.

The closure follows Public Health Wales releasing figures last week that demonstrate that Cardiff remains the local authority with the highest number of coronavirus cases per head amounting to 311.8 cases per 100,000 population.

A spokesperson for Admiral told Insurance Times: ”We can confirm that an Admiral staff member in our Ty Admiral office in Cardiff has been diagnosed with Covid-19 and is self-isolating as per government advice. The wellbeing of our staff is of paramount importance, so we took a cautious approach to this situation.

”This means we closed our Ty Admiral office and sent everyone home for 72 hours from Friday 23 October in order to carry out sanitisation. We had approximately 100 people in the office when we closed it, which is around 3% of the total capacity of that building. This shows how our focus has been on staff wellbeing from the outset and we have focussed our efforts on enabling staff to work from home effectively since March. We have also ensured that anyone who has been in contact with the member of staff also follows the correct Government procedures around self-isolating and testing.”
