For the 15th day of advent, Matt Field, chief marketing officer at Aventum, discusses the group’s world record attempt and the need for more young talent across the industry
1. What was your insurance industry highlight of 2024?
Without question, EC3 Relay – our world record setting fundraiser for Cancer Research – which raised over £80,000. It was phenomenal to see the London market come together for such a fantastic cause and have so much fun in the process.
The support we received from clients, carriers and even competitors was beyond what we expected.
2. What is your Christmas message for your insurance colleagues?
My message is that we need to work harder together to make this incredible industry appealing to younger talent. Insurance often ranks near the bottom of the list when it comes to appealing industries for school leavers and graduates.
We cannot ignore the threat of a rapidly ageing population in our sector and while many businesses are doing great things, we need to up the volume across the board.
3. What do you hope to find under the industry’s Christmas tree for 2025?
A box of collaborations – not to be confused with celebrations. Huge things are possible when this fantastic industry works together to solve problems, whether that be gender inequality, lack of young talent or efficiency issues, which could be enhanced and not necessarily replaced by tech.
