Gallagher Re has appointed Ben Wathan as its new chief claims officer.

In his new role, Wathan, who brings over 20 years of experience, will lead the broker’s global claims advocacy team.

He takes up the role after spending a year as Gallagher Re’s head of complex claims.

Before Gallagher Re, he spent five years at Canopius Group, where he held a range of senior roles.

This includes senior claims adjuster and claims manager for reinsurance.

‘Well-suited’

In a statement, Gallagher Re said that Wathan was “well-suited” to take up his new role.

The firm said: “With his deep market knowledge, client-first approach, collaborative leadership and strong industry relationships, Wathan is exceptionally well-suited to lead Gallagher Re’s global claims advocacy team
