Gallagher Re has appointed Ben Wathan as its new chief claims officer.
In his new role, Wathan, who brings over 20 years of experience, will lead the broker’s global claims advocacy team.
He takes up the role after spending a year as Gallagher Re’s head of complex claims.
Before Gallagher Re, he spent five years at Canopius Group, where he held a range of senior roles.
This includes senior claims adjuster and claims manager for reinsurance.
‘Well-suited’
In a statement, Gallagher Re said that Wathan was “well-suited” to take up his new role.

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
