Markerstudy has appointed former minister of state across the treasury and cabinet office Lord Theodore Agnew as a non-executive director.
Lord Agnew currently holds a number of advisory positions, is a member of the House of Lord’s industry and regulators committee and a trustee of the National Institute of Teaching.
In a statement released yesterday (15 June 2023), Markerstudy said he was “expected to perform a significant role on the board overseeing claims”.
Kevin Spencer, group chief executive, said: “I warmly welcome Theodore to Markerstudy.
“We’ve known each other for many years and he is a man of integrity and honour.”
Career
Lord Agnew’s career spans 35 years in the public and private sector.

At the beginning of his career, Agnew founded WNS Services Ltd – a claims management and third-party administrator to the insurance sector – which he later sold to Warburg Pincus.
In 2004, he became chief executive of Lloyd’s MGA Jubilee Insurance and affiliated businesses, a start-up venture with syndicates covering motor, life and specialty classes.
After this was acquired by Aon Group in 2010, he took up board and advisory positions in government, including the lead non-executive director at the Ministry of Justice, chairman of the academies board at the Department for Education as well as non-executive director.
In 2015, he was knighted for his services to education.
He accepted the post of Lord’s minister in the Department of Education in 2017, before being appointed minister of state across the treasury and cabinet office in 2020.
Spencer added: ”His experience of business and governance is exemplary.
