’I’m excited to bring Fiera’s tailored solutions to the local market,’ says new appointee

Asset management firm Fiera Capital has appointed Samuel Berman as its managing director of insurance distribution.

The newly created role will see Berman take responsibility for developing and raising third-party insurance assets across the UK and Bermudan insurance markets.

He will also with insurers in the run-off, life, Lloyd’s of London and property and casualty sectors.

He will be based in London and work with Paul Doyle, who holds the roles of head of insurance and managing director for institutional markets.

Berman said: “The insurance market is increasingly looking to partner with specialists like Fiera, which allows investors to access proprietary origination channels that offer higher spread opportunities through various factors such as complexity, illiquidity and risk premia.

”I’m excited to bring Fiera’s tailored solutions to the local market, particularly in alternative asset classes like natural capital, where Fiera is leading the market and addressing key client concerns around the environment, interest rates and market volatility.”

Experience

Prior to joining Fiera, Berman was director of UK and Bermuda insurance business development at Allianz’s global investors arm.

This saw him work across a range of alternative asset classes, including trade finance and Dutch mortgages.

He also held similar roles at Kames Capital and Axa Investment Managers.

Klaus Schuster, executive director and chief executive at Fiera Capital EMEA, said: “The insurance market has unique investment needs and Berman has spent his exceptional career working in the sector and successfully serving these needs.

“We are looking forward to Berman leveraging his expertise and relationships to grow Fiera’s strong insurance business in EMEA.”
