Double game weeks mean that teams are set to play two games across the weekend, not just one
The upcoming run of Premier League fixtures could make for some interesting changes in the Insurance Times Fantasy Football league, with this being the first double game week of the season.
Double game weeks mean that teams are set to play two games, not just one.
For game week 24, the teams that will have a double fixture are Liverpool and Everton. Both will be in action on Saturday, with them taking on Bournemouth and Leicester respectively.
However, Liverpool and Everton will then go up against each other on Wednesday, following their original fixture last year being postponed due to poor weather.
As a result, transferring in players from these two clubs means more points could be on the cards for managers.
However, a double game week does not always guarantee this. For example, rotation could be a factor, meaning a player who starts on Saturday might be benched on Wednesday – or not even be in the squad.
There is also a risk your captain may not score across the two games. Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah has been a very popular captaincy choice, given he has secured 222 points so far.
However, Bournemouth dominated both Newcastle and Nottingham Forest – two clubs fighting for Champions League places – in the last few weeks. And while Everton are down in 16th, they have won their last two games and are improving defensively.
The deadline to make your choices is 11am on 1 February 2025 and while there is still lots of time to make your team decision, there is a lot to consider going into this game week.
