Insurance Times provides some Fantasy Football tips and tricks ahead of next week’s leage kick-off
Attention all Insurance Times Fantasy Football League managers – we are now T-minus exactly one week from the first game of the upcoming Premier League season on 16 August 2024, when the season will begin with Manchester United v Fulham at Old Trafford.
The more astute players will have already been tinkering with their teams to no end in an attempt to field the perfect set of players. Those of you that have lives, on the other hand, will probably leave it until next week.

As a result, it may seem like a no-brainer to have the 6ft4 striker in your Fantasy Football line-up – but, this year, the player has been priced at a Fantasy Premier League record of £15m, or a full 15% of each player’s budget.
The decision is whether to build a team without his goalscoring exploits included, and strengthen in other areas, or rely on the juggernaut-like qualities of both Man City and Erling Haaland.
Community Shield
In making your decision on Haaland, it would be wise to take a look at how he looks in tomorrow’s (10 August 2024) 3.00pm Community Shield game, which traditionally occurs just a week before the Premier League gets underway.
This year’s iteration of the charity shield will see last season’s Premier League winners Manchester City face off against FA Cup winners Manchester United in a Northern clash.
The first competitive game of the season represents an excellent opportunity for all Insurance Times Fantasy Football League managers to take a look at Haaland, as well as the somewhat unknown quantity of Manchester United, who underperformed last season with key defensive injuries under manager Erik Ten Haag.
