Insurance Times talks to Markerstudy’s head of pet underwriting, Richard Rhee, about his Fantasy Football league-topping performance in February
Gameweek 29 (GW29) in the Fantasy Football calendar begins at 13:30 tomorrow (15.03.25), with no games scheduled in for tonight – which is nice for all of us that keep forgetting to update their teams.
This GW also presents a problem for managers however, with only eight games across the weekend and multiple teams – such as Liverpool, Newcastle and Crystal Palace – not having games at all.
Are you planning on playing your Free Hit chip?
Before GW29 starts, however, we wanted to speak to the Insurance Times Fantasy Football League’s top performer from February.
Markerstudy’s Richard Rhee, manager of the excellently named Rheeal Madrid, accumulated 440 points over the month of February 2024, catapulting himself into the league’s top 10 as we head into GW29.
He sits six points behind WH&R McCartney’s Alan Kirkwood and RSA’s Hayden Williams, who sit neck and neck on 1,944 total points.
1. Congratulations on being the best performer in the league across February, how do you rate your chances for March?
March will be a lot trickier to top the table, having amassed a lot of extra points thanks to playing the triple captain and assistant manager chips in February. I am going to try and take advantage of the fixtures though – where I can.
2. What are the key decisions to make ahead of GW29?
I have played my free hit chip, so I will likely end up with a whole new starting 11! Do I give the armband to the ever-reliable Chris Wood, or take a punt on Haaland?
How to spend the budget is also tricky, as I currently have a reasonable amount spent on my first sub, just in case.
3. Who would you call out as an under-rated player for everyone’s Fantasy squad?
So many to pick from here, but the likes of Evanilson or Joao Pedro could be great candidates as a budget striker pick over the next few weeks, certainly with Cunha serving yet another ban.
4. Who or what would you like to call out in the insurance industry?
It seems only right to give a shout out to my Markerstudy colleagues, who will be undertaking the 20 mile hike along the Jurassic Coast in Dorset during June.
