Insurance Times takes a look at the tactical quandry of GW26 for the 2024/25 season
The Premier League is approaching its business end, with only 14 games left to play in the 2024/25 season. What that means is that the Insurance Times Fantasy Football League is also hotting up, with some leaders of the pack firmly established in the top 10.
For example, Hiscox Europe’s head of data Bernardo Gomes has been topping the league for the past few gameweeks and is commanding a nearly 20 point lead over second placed Ian Penfold.
Do last week’s top 10 have what it takes to remain on top for this weekend’s fixtures and beyond?

Last gameweek did see a degree of change in the rankings however, with those sensible enough to captain or even triple captain Liverpool’s ever-reliable Egyptian captain Mohammad Salah raking in a bumper load of points.
In gameweek 26 (GW26), managers could potentially have an opportunity for another monster haul, however, with both league leaders Liverpool and Aston Villa both playing twice within a single gameweek.
This means that, given availability, the power of triple captain chips can be doubled, especially if players such as Salah rack up goals and assists.
Top captains
If you’re planning to use your triple captain chip this week, you are somewhat spoilt for choice on strong options.
The clear bookies favourite would be Salah, as the league’s most prolific attacking player in terms of goals, assists and straight up inevitability.
However, managers could also consider Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk or Dutch compatriot Cody Gakpo, who has been in fine fettle.
Aston Villa’s players are less consistent than Liverpool’s, but taking a punt on talented striker Ollie Watkins presents a strong option too.
The difficulty is that both Liverpool and Aston Villa play each other in this double gameweek. Both teams also play a weaker team, with Villa lining up against relegation candidates Ipswich and Liverpool facing off against struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Who will you pick?
