’The New Generation programme is an exceptional development opportunity,’ says director for policy and public affairs

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has today (20 October 2023) announced the 2023/24 cohort for its New Generation Talent Programme.

The initiative, which is now in its 12th year, is a professional development opportunity for professionals with five or more years’ experience within the industry.

Cohorts are split into four groups, representing each of the four general insurance sectors – London market, underwriting, broking and claims.

The groups will be given the opportunity to work on a project or initiative that they believe could make a different to the insurance profession, presenting their conclusions and outputs back to the CII group board at the end of the programme year.

This year, a total of 41 professionals were selected from over 150 applicants.

Dr Matthew Connell, director for policy and public affairs at the CII, said: “We are very pleased to welcome the 2023/24 cohort into what I’m sure will be an exciting and challenging year for them.

”The New Generation programme is an exceptional development opportunity that will provide invaluable experience.”

The projects take around six months to complete and involve collaboration between group members across the country.

During their year-long programme, participants can also take part in a range of activities, such as talks from Members of Parliament and organisations within the insurance sector.

They will also receiving training on subjects such as leadership and handling the media.
