’We are very grateful to him for the stability, leadership and deep market insight he has provided,’ says chief executive

CFC has announced the departure of chief underwriting officer Dan Trueman following a strategic review.

The specialist insurance provider said it had undertaken a review of its structure and has now decided to reshape the chief underwriting officer role.

“As a result, we are sad to share that Trueman will be leaving the business,” the firm said.

Going forward, the responsibilities of the chief underwriting officer role will be split out across CFC’s senior underwriting leadership.

Experience

Trueman joined the team in January 2024 from Axis Insurance, where he was most recently global head of cyber.

The appointee started his career as an active underwriter at Tokio Marine Kiln and went on to hold a variety of senior positions – including unit head of cyber and chief innovation officer at Novae Group, which was acquired by Axis Capital in October 2017.

During his time at CFC, he helped the firm improve its cyber offering and supported the development of home-grown talent.

“I feel very proud of what we’ve managed to achieve since I joined CFC, including multiple product launches, continuing to enhance the value proposition to our clients and carriers and supporting the development and succession of CFC’s underwriting leaders and their teams,” Trueman said.

“It’s been a privilege to work with such talented and dedicated people and to be part of the CFC journey.”

Louise O’Shea, group chief executive, added: “We are very grateful to Trueman for the stability, leadership and deep market insight he has provided throughout his time here, as well as his flexibility, as the role evolved significantly during an intense period of change for CFC.

“He has been dedicated to delivering fair value for our clients, improving our product mix and supporting our efforts to remain at the forefront of the emerging risk landscape. He will be missed and we look forward to working with him in the future.”
