Chief executive says the hire will ‘drive’ the business’ ‘growth’ in the UK and Europe
Accredited Insurance Programme Management has appointed Stuart McMurdo as president of its UK and Europe operations.
Based in London, McMurdo will also become chief executive of Accredited’s regulated entities as part of the move.
He will start on 1 October 2024 and report to Accredited’s chief executive William Spiegel.
Spiegel said the Accredited team was “delighted to be able to appoint a leader of Stuart’s standing and experience to drive Accredited’s growth in the UK and Europe”.
Experience
McMurdo most recently served as Scor’s P&C reinsurance chief executive and after working for the carrier for around six years, decided to depart the business in March.

At Scor, McMurdo held several senior roles, including regional head at Scor P&C Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), as well as chief executive at Scor UK and its syndicate at Lloyd’s.
Prior to Scor, he was head of reinsurance at insurer Santam.
“Stuart has a deep knowledge of the UK and European markets, as well as an impressive track record of driving strong underwriting performance and operational excellence,” Spiegel said.
“These factors make him a great fit for our business.”
Gunning for growth
McMurdo’s appointment follows Onex Partners acquiring Accredited on 28 June 2024.
The deal allows Accredited to operate as an independent platform, as well as focus on growth and diversifying the business with its MGA and reinsurance partners respectively.
McMurdo said he was “excited to join Accredited and sees real opportunities to build on what is already a strong existing footprint”.
“Programme managers that can offer capital partners sustainable and attractive underwriting returns, while helping MGAs access stable long-term capacity, are critical enablers of growth and innovation in our sector,” he added.
“Accredited’s balance sheet strength, disciplined approach and high-quality team make it well placed to continue as a partner of choice in the UK and Europe.
