’We look forward to protecting their members to keep them riding,’ says head of partnerships

Cyclist insurer Bikmo has teamed up with British Rowing to offer cycle insurance to its members.

A statement released today (16 January 2024) said eligible insureds would be provided with discounted policies and 14 days free cover on new bikes.

Bikmo said it was making the move as there were close ties between rowing and cycling.

Sian Keen, head of partnerships UK and Ireland at Bikmo, said: “We’re really excited to be partnering with British Rowing.

“We know many British Rowing members use their bikes for getting to and from their boat houses, to coach crews and for additional training to complement their sport.

“We look forward to protecting their members to keep them riding.”

Commitment

This is not the first sporting governing body that Bikmo has partnered with, with it having announced a five year partnership extension with British Cycling at the start of January.

In the announcement of its new deal, Bikmo said both the insurance provider and British Rowing had a shared commitment to promoting active lifestyles.

Marieke Hagemans, director of membership and rowing community at British Rowing, said partnering with Bikmo would help provide rowers with “essential bike insurance”.

“We know many members in the rowing community cycle regularly and we are very pleased to offer this new benefit to our membership base,” Hagemans said.

”We are always looking to add more value for members and rowers use bikes for training and commuting, while coaches cycle alongside the river for coaching sessions.”
