’It’s hard to put into words just how much this means to me,’ said Aventum boss’ son

Formula 1 team Haas have signed Ferrari academy driver Oliver Bearman as its new driver for 2025.

The 19-year-old, who is the son of Aventum chief executive David Bearman, currently competes in Formula 2, but made his Formula 1 debut with Ferrari at the Saudi Arabian GP after Carlos Sainz fell ill.

Following a very impressive drive that saw him beat the likes of Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton, Bearman had been linked with a drive at Haas, which use Ferrari engines.

And today (4 July 2024) the US team confirmed that Bearman will join the team on a multi-year deal from 2025.

“It’s hard to put into words just how much this means to me,” Bearman said.

“To say out loud that I will be a Formula 1 driver for MoneyGram Haas F1 Team makes me so immensely proud. To be one of the very few people who get to do the thing what they dreamed of as a child is something truly incredible.”

Event

The news comes after it was announced that Bearman will help Aventum attempt to break a world record in Leadenhall market.

The insurance firm is aiming to set a record for the most participants in a static cycle relay – an event which Insurance Times will be a media partner for.

This will involve participants cycling for a minimum of 1km each in slots around the clock on a static bike on a purpose built stage.

Aventum also aims to raise £50,000 for Cancer Research as part of the record attempt.

Bearman has registered to take part and will be on hand to meet fans and encourage participants.

“There is something very inspiring about the thought of the London market coming together in Leadenhall market for such an important cause,” Bearman said.

“Cancer affects the lives of one in two people. Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer.

“By collectively doing our bit, we’ll be helping to save lives and become a Guiness World Records title holder. I’m really excited to support such an inspiring and worthy cause.”
