Aon has appointed Mona Barnes as the UK chief claims officer for its global broking centre.
A statement released today (27 October 2023) said Barnes will be responsible for overseeing a team of claims professionals working in the London market and UK regional client segments.
She will also join the firm’s London-based wholesale and specialty broking executive and global claims leadership teams.
“The delivery of best in class claims outcomes and services for clients is a key differentiator for Aon,” Neil Harrison, global chief claims officer, said.
“Adding Mona to our team in this vitally important leadership position reinforces our commitment to clients, colleagues, insurers and other business partners across all facets of claims.”
Experience
In her most recent role, Barnes led Swiss Re Group’s key case and large loss management team.

She also worked at Chubb for 12 years, working her way up to vice president of overseas general claims.
She is also an active participant in industry forums, including the Rand Institute for Civil Justice.
Barnes will start her new role at Aon on 30 October 2023 and report to Harrison as well as James Baum, global head of wholesale and specialty broking.
“Mona is an experienced, innovative leader and will bring to Aon significant experience across a broad array of risk classes and complex claims issues,” Baum said.
His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
