Allianz Commercial has appointed former Hiscox leader Rob Carslake as its new mid-market head for London.
In his new role, Carslake will be responsible for the insurer’s leadership in the city, shaping the business strategy and hitting underwriting goals.
He brings over 13 years’ experience to the role, with him having an underwriting background and market knowledge of global and regional brokers.
Carslake said: “It’s fantastic to join the team at Allianz and I’m excited to have this opportunity to drive forward our bold mid-market ambitions in London.”
Experience
Carslake joins from Hiscox, where he served as head of event insurance for the last two years.

Before this, he spent just over eight years at Aviva and held a range of leadership roles, including regional trading lead and underwriting manager.

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
