’We have zero tolerance for any criminal behaviour that threatens the safety or security of our people, property and business,’ says insurer

Allianz has said it has “zero tolerance for any criminal behaviour” after several of its offices were targeted by Palestine Action.

Overnight, the group attacked nine of the insurer’s officers across England, Scotland and Wales.

The group said that red paint had been thrown over buildings and that windows had been smashed as well.

It is the second protest Palestine Action has carried out against Allianz, with it having targeted 10 offices in October 2024.

During the protest last year, offices in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham and other cities saw windows smashed, Palestinian flags hung and red paint sprayed across facades by the protesters.

Following the latest protest, Allianz said: ”We respect everyone’s right to have and express their opinion.

”However, we have zero tolerance for any criminal behaviour that threatens the safety or security of our people, property and business. Our business operations and service to customers and clients remain unaffected.”

Reason for protest

The latest protest was against Elbit Systems, which manufactures over 85% of Israel’s drones, including quadcopters used by the country’s military to perform targeted military operations.

Palestine Action allege that Allianz is involved in the provision of employers’ liability insurance to Elbit Systems.

A spokesperson from Palestine Action said that it will continue to take “direct action” against Elbit Systems and companies that support it.

“We will ensure [Allianz] lose more than they gain by working with the Israeli weapons maker,” they added.

The protest comes after Israel’s government approved a deal with Hamas for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The war began in 2023, following the Hamas-led attack on Israel on 7 October that year.
