Ecclesiastical has announced the replacement for its retiring group chief executive, Graham Doswell.
Michael Tripp, a partner with Ernst & Young, will take up board and executive responsibilities on 1 January 2007, subject to regulatory approval.
Doswell, 61, will retire from executive office and the board on 31 December 2006, but will remain with the group for a handover period. He has been with Ecclesiastical for over 22 years, and took up the role of chief executive in 1997.
The company said: “Graham has been responsible for Ecclesiastical's growth and diversification into an international company with 'A' rated security with operations that now extend to Australia, Canada and New Zealand.”
Trip is currently responsible for Ernst & Young's property and casualty actuarial team for the UK company market. A qualified actuary, he has more than 30 years' experience in the insurance industry.
Prior to joining the consultancy profession in 1999, Michael held director level appointments at Guardian Royal Exchange in the areas of strategic planning and business development, including the establishment of Guardian Health.
Tripp said: “I am really looking forward to leading Ecclesiastical into the future. With its reputation as a specialist company with a strong set of values, Ecclesiastical occupies a unique position in the market place. I am excited by the prospects for its future development”.
Doswell said: “I'm delighted to be handing over the reins to Michael who is a very experienced and accomplished individual in the insurance industry. Ecclesiastical has an exciting future and Michael will play a key role in ensuring its continued success".
