Paul Asplin DAS

A new hearing has been set for 19 December in legal expenses insurer DAS UK’s criminal case against its former chief executive Paul Asplin and five others.

The new date was set at a hearing this morning at Southwark Crown Court. At the new hearing, which will be at the same court and will last for two days, the judge will decide whether to proceed to trial or dismiss the case.

It is expected that some or all of the six defendants will seek to have the case dismissed.

DAS is prusuing a criminal case against Paul Asplin, Karen Asplin, Robert John Dalley, Sally Ann Jones Jayne Kearns and David Mark Kearns.

All six appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 8 July charged with conspiracy to commit fraud.

They were granted unconditional bail at the time, which was extended today.

No pleas were entered.

The judge said Robert John Dalley would not have to appear at the new 19 December hearing following a request from his lawyer.
