Manchester Underwriting Management (MUM) will focus on providing a flexible and speedy service to London brokers following the launch of its new office in the City.

The broker-only MGA’s new division, which officially opens its Lime Street office at the end of June, will write professional indemnity, directors’ and officers’, management liability, crime and product recall business for London market brokers.

The new MUM London operation will centre primarily on intermediary and larger UK business, as well as international, including Australia, Canada, South Africa and Europe.

“The new office set up in London will focus on servicing London market brokers with London market risks,” director Richard Webb told Insurance Times.

He continued: “This is the next step in what we said we wanted to do, which is to be a niche MGA writing specialty lines and that means we are always looking at different areas of business.”

Led by former Sagicor head of special lines David Eynon, and head of management liability Andrew Farr and head of professional indemnity (London) Rob McKay, the team, which will report to chief executive Charles Manchester, plans to leverage its experience and IT capabilities to respond quickly and effectively to brokers.

Eynon himself has over 25 years’ experience in financial lines, holding senior roles with major London market insurers.

MUM plans to expand its London office to 5 staff by the end of this year.
