Chris Grayling to give official speech today
Justice secretary Chris Grayling is set to say today that the government wants to end compensation culture as the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (Laspo) comes into effect.
According to the Daily Mail, Grayling will say: “We are turning the tide on the compensation culture. It’s pushing up the cost of insurance, and making it more expensive to drive a car or organise an event. It’s time the whole system was rebalanced.”
Laspo bans referral fees in personal injury cases by legal advisers, claims management companies and insurers.
