Phelim Browne takes up new role at broker insurer
MMA Insurance has appointed Phelim Browne as its new head of marketing.
Formerly UK Marketing Manager for Brit Insurance from 2004-2008, Browne takes up his new role with immediate effect. He was previously product manager for NIG from 2002-2004.
Joining to head up a team of 10, Browne will take responsibility for broker-only MMA’s marketing, research and product development.
Browne will report to MMA’s commercial director, Derek Plummer, who said: “This is an important time for MMA as we grow our regional network and begin to push into the bespoke SME market, which is why Phelim’s appointment is so critical. We were looking for an industry expert who could shape our message to the market and really communicate MMA’s very ambitious strategy. Phelim is all of that, plus he brings real in-depth insight into marketing. He will be a great asset to the MMA team.”
Browne commented: “I am extremely pleased to be joining MMA at what’s clearly a pivotal moment for the company.
“In the weeks and months ahead, I’m going to be focusing on raising awareness of MMA among our commercial broker partners and the wider broker and insurance community. As a broker-only insurer the channels of communication with our broker partners are of paramount importance, hence MMA’s desire to invest in this area.
“My challenge is to change the perception of MMA from that of simply being a mid-size Personal Lines insurer to a credible broker-only SME Commercial Lines insurer. We want to ensure that brokers know us, understand us and see us as a genuine alternative to the other composites.”
