Appointment accompanies UK General management rejig

UK General Insurance Group has appointed Michael Warren as managing director.

Warren, previously chief operating officer, takes up his new role immediately and reports to UK General executive chairman Howard Posner.

Warren said: “I’m delighted to be stepping up to this new role and look forward to helping UK General achieve its ambitious plans for growth.”

Warren has made changes to the UK General director-level team to clarify roles and responsibilities.

Oliver Laird is finance director, Karen Smith has responsibility for underwriting policy and insurer relationships, Jon Tattersall for IT and projects, Nicola Lightowler for claims and operations, Kate McIntyre for direct sales and Neil Martin for intermediated sales.

Posner said: “Since the merger in 2009 between Longhawk and PBSH, we’ve worked hard with the FSA to simplify what was an admittedly complex structure."

UK General Insurance is now split into the specialist insurance business headed by Michael Warren, and Rural Insurance Group, the specialist agricultural insurer which is headed by managing director Simon Stevens.

Total Broker Solutions includes UKGI, which is run by managing director Mark Wood.
