Marmalade partners with Ignite to offer telematics cover for young drivers who use their parents’ cars
Young drivers insurance provider Marmalade has released a new telematics “New Driver – Family Car” policy for young drivers who use their parents car. The telematics cover will be underwritten by Markerstudy and Ignite will provide its telematics platform.
The policy, called New Driver - Family car, will be available to learner drivers with a provisional license, as well as those who are fully licensed.
Journey tracking will be conducted by an app and a telematics black box. Young drivers and their parents will then be able to look on an online portal to find data on acceleration, braking, cornering and speed.
Marmalade hopes that future updates will allow it to work out who is driving based on machine learning, rather than through the driver logging into the app.
Marmalade chief executive Crispin Moger said: “We chose Ignite because we needed a partner with the knowledge and experience to help keep us at the forefront of telematics innovation. They have provided us with the technology that allows us to bring our young customers the coverage they need to drive with confidence.”
