Markel raids Brit for operations director

Markel International has appointed Hugh Maltby in the new role of operations director.

Maltby, who will be based in London, has more than 20 years of experience of working in the insurance industry, including 12 years working at Brit Insurance where as operations director and, latterly, as group services director.

Maltby is set to direct the strategic development of the insurer's core operational activities, such as IT, underwriting support, procurement and premises. He will also coordinate non-underwriting operational projects in the underwriting divisions.
