LV= restructures claims team to support growth plans

LV= has restructured its senior claims team after the departure of head of third-party claims Elaine Clark last month.

Speaking to Insurance Times, LV= claims director Martin Milliner said the restructure was designed to support the insurer’s growth plans for its home insurance and commercial lines books.

The insurer has made several senior appointments and promotions and is also in the process of hiring 100 new staff.  

Caroline Johnson has been promoted to head of motor third party and technical services. In her new role, Johnson will be remain responsible for the technical claims teams and also incorporate the third-party motor claims department previously under Clark’s remit.

Mike Hall has also been appointed head of property and liability claims.

In the newly created role, Hall will have responsibility for all of the property claims teams, incorporating home and commercial including the technical, operational and liability teams. He returns to LV= from Saga, where he was head of non-motor technical claims for two years; previously he was technical property claims manager at LV= for six years.

David Butcher is now claims strategic development manager and will be responsible for the development of claims strategy at LV=. In his new role, he will manage the insurer’s response to the regulatory, legislative and market pressures facing the claims teams at LV= and driving forward strategic change.

All three roles will report into Milliner who said: “LV= is experiencing significant customer growth in both home and commercial, so the time was right to re-balance our overall claims team structure to support this expansion.

“We are also facing a number of challenges in the claims world right now, from adverse weather events to aggressive claims farming and ongoing government consultation on a number of issues. We have ambitious plans for the next few years and I am confident we now have the best team in place to deliver on our strategy.”
