Liberty Syndicates said its underwriting capacity for newly formed Syndicate 4472 in 2005 would be £716m.
Syndicate 4472 was formed in October from the merger of Syndicates 190 and 282. It will begin trading on 1 January 2005.
Three new appointments have been made to the syndicate.
Alan Tomlinson will join as miscellaneous casualty reinsurance underwriter to improve the syndicate's existing book.
Marine underwriter Robert Scott Mackie and syndicate actuary Gaynore Moss will also join the syndicate.
