Hubbard says insurer well placed for growth following e-trading deal with Acturis
Mike Keating (pictured) has started in his new role as commercial managing director at UK General Insurance.
Keating, who reports into group chief executive Peter Hubbard, will be responsible for UK General’s commercial strategy.
Hubbard said the commercial unit was well-positioned for growth following the implementation of integrated e-trading in partnership with Acturis.
“We are seeking to take full advantage of our position as the UK’s second biggest MGA, with an explicit focus on sales and distribution, where Mike’s experience and track record will be hugely beneficial,” he said.
Keating said: “The opportunity to work with Peter Hubbard was too good to miss. He painted a compelling picture of the opportunity at UK General, and I am delighted to be joining his team at a time when the business is well positioned for significant growth. My immediate priority will be to engage with our broker partners and understand how UK General’s commercial team can further improve our products and services and make a real and significant difference to their business.”
Keating has spent all his career in insurance, starting in 1978 when he joined Prudential as an underwriter and inspector. Latterly he was part of the senior management team at AXA, (where for a time he worked under Hubbard) in a variety of roles. His final role at AXA, was managing director intermediary and partnerships for AXA personal lines.
