Partnership will provide insurers with trained investigators and fire trend data
IFIC Forensics has teamed up with the insurer-funded Fire Protection Association (FPA) to increase access to fire trend data and specialist investigators.
The partnership will provide in-depth specialist fire investigation training at a time when cuts to the UK Fire & Rescue Service are leaving insurers exposed when attempting to determine cause and liability in fire claims.
The Forensics Regulator is also expected to publish requirements for investigators to be regulated shortly, in a move that will further restrict insurer access to relevant experts.
IFIC Forensics chairman and principal investigator Professor Jim Lygate said: “We are delighted to have partnered with the FPA to improve insurer access to qualified fire investigators.
“The partnership will also see us produce forward-thinking intelligence and research to support insurers effectively manage and make informed decisions around fire risk and claims.”
