Former R&SA risk boss heads to Glasgow

Hiscox has appointed Alasdair MacMillan as regional manager for Hiscox in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Alasdair joins from Royal & SunAlliance, where he was most recently UK risk control leader responsible for 180 staff advising clients on risk prevention. During his time with the company he was also involved in national broker management and the marine business.

He will report to Cath Timberlake, area manager for the north of England, Scotland and Ireland, and will be based in Glasgow.

Timberlake said: “Alasdair’s strong leadership, industry experience and local market knowledge will strengthen our management team and help drive further profitable growth in these distinct and important markets”.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
