Motor insurer Highway has announced it is streamlining its screen-based private car policies into one product.

The new product will be immediately available to brokers via EDI, says the company.

The new product - Highway Choice - will replace the existing portfolio of 13 different policies on the Misys system for new business.

Existing policies will be maintained to support mid-term adjustments on current policies and, from August, renewals will be automatically invited on Highway Choice.

Highway says that brokers can still offer all the same benefits they could historically, while also being able to offer some new features.

These include taking of the operating efficiencies of EDI in the delivery of business, together with faster customer documentation and improved claims service.

The single product approach has enabled Highway to speed up its EDI development strategy.

Highway Choice provides a full range of standard and non-standard motor insurance with highly competitive rates for the right risks, for both third party fire and theft and comprehensive cover.

Underwriting director Chris Hill said: "From 1 July we will switch to being a one product insurer for private motor. This is a very positive move for brokers because Highway Choice will live up to its name in offering them and their clients a wider range of competitive premiums.

"One of the immediate impacts of this simplified structure has been a substantial improvement in our competitiveness in many areas on comprehensive business as well as the addition of a number of standard policy features to position Highway Choice among the best in the market."
