Heath Lambert has launched a specialist transportation division under executive director Mike Hawkes.

Hawkes will be joined by Mark Prowting, who previously worked with Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT), specialising in the bus and coach sector and Martin Ecott, another transport specialist who joined Heath Lambert from JLT in June.

The division has been created within Heath Lambert's Projects division in response to the UK government's planned re-franchising of the private rail sector, and to its 10-year transport plan, which signalled the development of Light Rail and guided bus systems.

Heath Lambert boasts a strong book of rail business within the UK and Continental Europe, particularly rail infrastructure business. In November last year, The group hosted a Light Rail conference, aimed at clarifying and differentiating the risks associated with Light Rail systems versus traditional “heavy” rail.

Hawkes said: “We are making a serious commitment to the transport industry in launching this dedicated division. It is our desire to become the recognised market leader in providing advisory and insurance services to this very important sector."
