Practice applies for second notice in order to conclude swift sale
Halliwells has filed for a second notice of administration in a bid to secure enough time to conclude the practice’s swift sale.
The Manchester-based law firm, which announced that it was going into administration last month, filed a second notice yesterday which would give it until July 20th to conclude the deals.
Halliwell is understood to be in talks with BLG to take over its insurance business.
A statement issued by Halliwells said: “Halliwells LLP continues to make good progress with its discussions for the transfer of the business to a number of other highly regarded firms of solicitors. In light of this, Halliwells has been advised to file a second notice of intention to appoint an administrator to-day, 7th July 2010, which will allow until 20th July 2010 to conclude the deals.
“Halliwells and the third parties that it is in discussion with intend that clients will experience a seamless transfer with no disruption. In the interim, the notice provides a moratorium to protect the interests of clients and other stakeholders and business continues as usual. An administrator has not currently been appointed. “
