Newman Martin and Buchan (NMB) has appointed Hilde Thon as a director of its energy division.
Thon has 25 years’ experience in the marine and energy broking sector.
She previously worked in the Norwegian insurance market before moving to London in 2005.
Aon
Aon Re Services has appointed Simon Martin as head of its rating agency practice for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and the UK.
Martin will lead and grow the EME/UK rating agency team, which provides clients with advice on all aspects of rating agencies.
Martin joins from KPMG, where he was a principal adviser, providing rating advisory services to insurers and reinsurers in the UK, Europe and Bermuda.

Evolution
Evolution Underwriting has appointed Angie Mugford as business development executive.
Mugford joins from MSL and her previous experience has included commercial broking and insurer roles.
She will be responsibile for broker relationship management and development in Wales and the South West.
Tokio Marine
James Lawson has joined Tokio Marine Europe Insurance as UK agency cargo manager.
He will be responsible for the development and servicing of marine cargo and transit business with brokers in the UK.
Lawson formerly worked at CNA, and has more than 10 years of underwriting ex-perience in the marine sector.
Tokio Marine has also announced the appointments of Julie Leverentz as human resources manager, Chris Killourhy as actuarial manager in the finance department and Anthony Hynes as head of internal audit.
Novae
Novae Syndicates has appointed Richard Allen as unit head of its financial institutions team.
Allen, currently a class underwriter for the financial institutions unit, takes over from Jonathan Butcher, who will become active underwriter of Novae Syndicate 2007 later in the year.
Allen joined Syndicate 1007 in October 2000.
Allianz
Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty UK has appointed Gordon Steward as head of broker relations and market management.
Steward will work closely with other members of the market management and communication department to continue to provide high levels of service to its brokers.
He will also be responsible for delivering value-added services to clients via the broker channel.
Steward joins Allianz from QBE, where he was relationship manager for European operations.
Allianz Personal has appointed Jim Eakins as key account manager based in Scotland.
His responsibilities will include developing personal lines relationships with Allianz Personal brokers, finding new outlets and growing the GWP.

Amicus Legal has recruited Andy Tomkins to the new position of general manager.
Tomkins will oversee the Colchester team alongside Kathryn Mortimer, head of legal services, and consultant Edward Wright.

Watson Wyatt has appointed Rob Collinson into a client facing consulting role.
Collinson has over 17 years’ experience in non-life insurance. His initial focus will be on reserving and capital modelling.

Blyth Valley has recruited four to its Ipswich team.
Stephan Pieri joins the company as an ICT support specialist, looking after employee desktop systems as part of the company’s in-house ICT team.
Francesca Williams is an administrator in Blyth Valley’s customer services team, managing policy documentation while taking part in the company’s account handler training scheme.
Samantha Evans joins as one of the company’s specialist team of account handlers, looking after the insurance needs of the firm’s business customers. She joins the company from Direct Motorline.
Nick Green is also an account handler in Blyth Valley’s specialist business insurance team.
Prior to joining Blyth Valley he worked at Willis and Ansaback in Ipswich.
The new recruits are based in
offices in the town’s Ransomes Europark.
