Paul Montgomery named Compass’s London markets broking director
Gallagher-owned broker network Compass Broker Services has hired former Cobra executive Paul Montgomery as broking director of its London markets division.
Montgomery will join Compass in August after 10 years at Cobra London Markets, where he was most recently property director.
In his new role, Montgomery will be responsible for developing and expanding Compass’s property portfolio to complement its liability, fleet and professional indemnity offerings.
Compass managing director John Lincoln said: “Paul is a fantastic hire for us – he is a highly respected individual with extensive and specialist knowledge, not to mention long-established market relationships, making him perfectly positioned to develop, deepen and widen our property portfolio.”
Montgomery added: “I’ve watched the Compass model’s evolution over its first 18 months with keen interest and its growth has been nothing short of exceptional. The opportunity to be part of that story and enable its London market property offering to deliver on its great potential, backed as it is by the Arthur J Gallagher brand, is one I wasn’t prepared to miss.”
Compass was launched by broking group Giles in January 2013. The network became part of Gallagher when the acquisitive broking group bought Giles in November last year for £233m.
Compass now has more than 200 members controlling gross written premium in excess of £540m.
