Fortis has delivered 15% growth in gross written premiums (GWP) to £520.6m for the first nine months of 2006.

Private motor grew by 4%, to £299.6m in GWP, while commercial lines were up 12%, to £47.5m.

Fortis's chief executive, Barry Smith, commented: “As the year progresses, we are continuing to deliver strong organic growth across all product lines. We have increased the number of policies written across all personal and commercial lines products in the first nine months of 2006 by 22 per cent, compared to the same period in 2005 and now insure over five million customers across the UK.”

He added: “We see innovation and product development as key to our success and are committed to deliver quality of service to our intermediaries and their customers.”

During the third quarter, the insurer achieved 50% growth in household to £122.2m and 26% growth in travel to £48.4m.
