Axis International's Alistair Jacob

One cap wonder...

While having an extended, but average, rugby career I have still managed to play against and with great players like Peter Winterbottom, Will Carling, Steve Smith and Alan Old. I have been capped once for England Veterans playing against Wales. There team included JPR Williams, Phil Bennett, Gareth Edwards, Graham Price and Spike Watkins.

In at the deep end...

My first assignment as a loss adjuster was for an elderly homeowner who had reported damage to rendering following an earthquake. Indemnity considerations included the fact I was late (got lost on the North Wales coast), presented with tea and Bara brith (a traditional Welsh fruit bread); my minimal understanding of the affects of frost versus a 5.4 tremor off the Lleyn Peninsula. The claim was paid in full.

Sent packing...

After leaving school I worked in a bank, where the importance of remaining in the black was continually emphasized. My tenure was short lived when I caused the manager to become overdrawn. His £10 debit became £10,000.

A good thing...

I’m particularly proud of the development of our specialist divisions at Axis. Building our Centres of Excellence in London have enabled us to provide real clarity of service and ensured the right resources are in place for our clients. Getting the right person for the job has always been a key driver. Our aim is to continue to build on the technical acumen that exists within our UK branches.

I could walk 500 miles...

I have completed many miles on the West Highland Way and South West Coastal Path. My ambition remains to complete the entire 326km/ 17 day Forth William to Cape Wrath walk in one go.
